Waonui (Year 2/3-4)

The Middle Teaching Team at Addington Te Kura Taumatua works with children from Years 2-4. We are a motivated and passionate group of teachers and tamariki who believe that building relationships, knowing our strengths and working collaboratively together will help us grow and support our learning. 

 

Our school values are important to us and are embedded throughout our daily programmes. In the Waonui team we strive to demonstrate Awesome Achievement, Brilliant Behaviour and being Connected Citizens. 

 

The teachers in Waonui work together and plan collaboratively in each of the curriculum areas. We strive to provide engaging opportunities for our learners which are varied and promote student agency. We understand that all children learn at different rates, therefore we teach in small guided groups for reading, writing and maths. As a team we recognise the importance of building strong relationships with our students and families, working together to support your child’s needs. 

 

Throughout the year we take part in a variety of programmes and Deep Learning tasks which encourages new learning and real life experiences. We are very fortunate to attend Kiwi Can sessions throughout the year, which focuses on values such as respect and integrity. Our students participate in a range of sporting events and opportunities throughout the year, including weekly Origin Sport sessions. 

 

The Arts plays a huge role within our school and we have a great variety of music lessons that children can enrol for. The classes offered include violin, guitar, ukulele, singing, piano and drums. Children are able to join our J-Tunes / A-Tunes choir and Te Tipuranga (kapa haka). We also have a Poly-Percussion group that meets every week. This year we also have our school production in Term 3, which we are very excited about. 

 

The Waonui team is looking forward to a fantastic year, where curiosity, collaboration, risk taking and creativity is promoted. We welcome you to our space and we are always happy to share our learning with you.
