Jtunes is an exciting choral venture for year one and two students at our kura. It is led by our conductor, Hannah Krijnen. We aim to nurture the young voices of our kura by providing weekly opportunities for children to develop their vocal, choral and musicianship skills.
Our goals are to:
encourage and educate children in musicianship, vocal production, singing and performance
foster a life-long love of singing and music in general
provide an environment in which to develop confidence, self-discipline, team work and commitment
perform for the benefit of the public and to enrich our wider community
regularly present high quality repertoire
Rehearsals are on Fridays 11.30am - 12pm held in the Ngāhere learning space.
Our music selection includes a range of songs from contemporary classical to world music and musical theatre, including repertoire from Aotearoa New Zealand. There is a power point of songs that is regularly updated for the children to learn the tunes and lyrics during the practise sessions.
Concerts and performances
There will be a number of occasions during the year when we will share our music with families and perform to wider audiences in a variety of settings. Singers and their families will be given adequate notice of performance dates and we expect Jtunes members to commit to taking part in performances.
